Re: More macro madness
WOW tremendous shots Huw.
The 60mm really is a superb lens, must give mine some more exercise.
Interesting to see that although the E-M5 is reputedly no good for Birds In Flight it seems pretty good for Flies In Flight.

Thanks for sharing.

she looked at me and said "It's official. I hate your camera. It's just so amazing and perfect I want one!"

Re: More macro madness
Edit:
Huw, I have just removed from here a comparitive image of your 'fluff ball' (or whatever they're called) to a new thread of my own as I felt that it was too close to hijacking your thread, so apologies for that.
More Macro Madness (Response to Huw)
So the question arises, why buy a dedicated macro lens when comparable results can be had from much cheaper kit?
Now I concede that an XZ1 might be pushing it to catch a bee in flight.

Re: More macro madness
Thanks Peter, I agree the 60 mm is great little lens, however I find it a little short on occasion having owned the 4/3rds version of the 150 Sigma in the past. Sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge to sneak up on this smaller subjectsOriginally posted by PeterBirder View PostWOW tremendous shots Huw.

Thanks John, I hope your weather improves soon, you could almost say it's a bit balmy down here at the momentOriginally posted by JohnheatingmanCracking series of macro shots there Huw. Unfortunately, us poor deprived Northerners on the west coast are still waiting for the bees and flies and other macro madness subjects to arrive. The sun has finally appeared once or twice but still with cold winds which must be keeping them tucked up somewhere warm and cosy. I actually haven't seen a bee or hover fly in the garden since last year !
Regards,
John
Thanks Ron, I agree, I find macro quite fascinating.Originally posted by Olybirder View PostMore superb macros Huw. Isn't that fly beautiful when seen close up! Lovely stuff.
Ron
Thanks Mark, actually it wasn't as close as it appears (bit of a crop) never the less I was quite pleased with the result.Originally posted by pandora View PostAll quite astonishing Huw. I applaud your reflexes in capturing the bee, some feat.
Thanks Greg, much appreciated.Originally posted by gregles View PostUnbelievable detail Huw
Lovely
Thanks Lyn, I'm glad you like themOriginally posted by Floribunda View PostAlways a joy to see your macro shots Huw and these are no exception.
I love them all.
Hi Mark, no worries dropping your images in here, I would be honouredOriginally posted by pandora View PostEdit:

Your macro Dandelion (if that what it's called down under
) looks pretty spot on to me. It would be interesting to see how the XZ1 macro feature copes with tight shots of small insects
Thanks George, glad you like them.Originally posted by George Dorn View PostThanks for posting these; I'm inspired!Regards Huw

Of course, come to think of it it's a dandelion over there and a dandelion downunder, I had just forgotten the name.Originally posted by Greytop View PostHi Mark, no worries dropping your images in here, I would be honoured

You might have to wait for Spring for an XZ1 macro shot of an insect which are presently conspicuous by their absence Huw.
I think they've all gone into hibernation. But you've thrown down the gauntlet mate and I accept the challenge !
