  • More Macro Madness (Response to Huw)

Now Huw, as luck would have it, after my previous thread I stepped out onto my lawn and there, lo and behold, one of those fluff ball thingys for
which I have no name. So just as a matter of interest I thought I'd see what sort of a job my XZ1 macro would do on this subject ... what do you say?

    Uncropped Original
So the question arises, why buy a dedicated macro lens when comparable results can be had from much cheaper kit?
Now I concede that an XZ1 might be pushing it to catch a bee in flight .

As I mentioned in the other thread Mark, this looks excellent.
Have a go at some small six and eight legged things

I think this "fluff ball thingy" is called a dandelion clock. At least, I think it was in south-east London in the 1960s

And that's a nice photo of it.

      Ciao ... John

Thanks Huw, I will come Spring ... for now they're all in hibernation and not being a veritable 'Charles Darwin' I don't know where they hang through winter.

I've not heard it called a dandelion clock, John.
As a very small boy I asked my mum what they're called, she told me they are "wing wongs for a gooses bridle" ... serial misinformation was fed me from an early age, hence my ignorance of many such things.

Great shot Mark I would rather use my XZ-1 for macro mostly as the E-620 with the 35mm f3.5 macro. I find the XZ-1 focuses faster.

Here is shot from the XZ-1

Thats a fine example of the excellence ofthe XZ1's lens quality Alf.
The camera is a sophisticated upgrade of the 2002 C5050uz, previusly the best cam I've owned.

Your Pride and Joy's Macro function looks pretty good Mark.
I can understand you being pleased with it, and glad you are enjoying it so much.

If you can get one Lyn, do so before they go off the market. As said to Huw, you can pick them up online fairly cheaply at present.
