Any idea what this error code means? from the upload function on this site...

It appears to be a glitch in the Matrix, Ian may be able to shed more light but the upload function wasnt able to create the thumbnail of the image you tried to upload?

I've just uploaded a test image successfully so the system is working overall

please try it again and give some more details on the size, type and other aspects of the image you are trying to load so we can investigate further

BTW its just a newspaper graphic from some historical research I have been doing... if you want to look at it

I just tried a tiny capture of the photo information, that wouldn't load either...

Typical info about the images I was trying to upload:

JPEG
437KB
1200*670 pixels
Resolution 240x240

File names from the Olympus owned E-M1X have an underscore in their name, but the ones from my MKii don't, neither load and both show similar errors.

Just managed to upload the image, could it be a browser related issue?? i used Firefox.

I’ve restarted the browser and retried, I have uploaded several hundred in the past and this is the first time I’ve had problems!

I will try off the laptop in case the recent update did anything daft!

Have tried from the laptop (older browser and OS) which has uploaded no problem before....

Sorry it's been a couple of busy days.

This does seem odd because it clearly works for others and we are slowly ticking off all the usual things

I'll bring this to Ian's attention to see if he can see things in the server logs

It's very odd!

/usr/bin/mogrify is part of the ImageMagick suite of operations. It carries out image manipulation, but overwrites the original, unlike most of the other operations that leave the original unchanged. It looks to me like a full sized copy of the image is copied to a 'thumbnails' directory, where it is resized to a thumbnail, which overwrites the original.

Most Linux command line options are passed with options, prefixed with '-', eg -size, -quality and -geometry as in the above error line. In the mogrify manual 'prefix' is similarly prefixed with a '-' - not a '+'. In fact there are no options prefixed with a '+'!

I don't fully understand the above command line, but it seems to me that maybe the mogrify command was called with the wrong format for 'prefix' and hence the command failed. This would have happened on the site's server.

What I don't understand is why it only happens to 'Walti' and not everyone else!

Addendum:

I've tried running the command:

I created a directory 'thumbnail' and put an arbitrary full size image in it, and then ran this command line:

"/usr/bin/mogrify" +profile "*" -size 124x39 -quality 60 -geometry 124x39 '/home/jim/thumbnail/PC090070.jpg'

It ran OK and produced a correct thumbnail. Note: I had to add a closing single quote (after the 'jpg'). Maybe Walti missed the quote when posting, or maybe the quote was missed by the site's server!

I see that in the earlier posting Walti included the closing single quote, so the command should have completed without any errors.
