Sturdy Redsnapper RSF-284 tripod with RSH-12 Ball Head.

Sturdy Redsnapper RSF-284 tripod with RSH-12 Ball Head for sale.

In very good, carefully looked after condition. No blemishes apart from two small paint chips around two of the leg ratchets (see images).
Here is link the RSH-12 Ball Head information on the Redsnapper site.
This robust tripod has served me very well for a few years but is now surplus to requirements.
Please note that this is not the new 284M leg version.

Offered at the bargain price of £45.00 including 48 hour tracked and insured delivery (within the UK).
Alternatively you are welcome to collect from my work or home address for only £35.00, West Berkshire, M4 corridor (near junction 14 or 12).

All discussions by PM only please.

Please refer to the photos below…

Thanks for looking

Re: Sturdy Redsnapper RSF-284 tripod with RSH-12 Ball Head.

Huw
I'm intersected - looking in the redsnapper web I see it has 28mm leg (max) and folds to about 18" in old money. Doesn't say max height. Can you please inform what max height is with and without centre column extension and the weight of the combo.
And how stable is it in use?

Edit: Sorry, just read your request for pm discussion only - pm sent.

No problem Steve, thanks for the interest.
I'll check the heights for you.
The tripod is extremely sturdy and very robustly constructed.

Edit: In old money...
Folded length with Ball Head is 23.5", 18.75" without.
Max. height without centre column extension 53.5"
Max. height is with centre column extension just over 63"
Weight approximately 4.4lbs (2Kg).

Re: Sturdy Redsnapper RSF-284 tripod with RSH-12 Ball Head.

I've got the same Redsnapper ball head, but have never detected any evidence of an aspherical ball - there's no progressive tightening as it's moved out of line. Still, it's pretty good value.

Re: Sturdy Redsnapper RSF-284 tripod with RSH-12 Ball Head.

'My' Redsnapper tripod arrived this morning in lovely condition, exactly as described by Huw.

Really impressed with it, tripod and ballhead, it's so well built I'm left wondering whether it was designed and built by the Russian Military!

All I need to do now is get the wife gym membership and get her training on the weights!

Thank Huw.

Jim,
I've been having a play and with the tensioners (x2) adjusted such that the ball moves freely within an arc of +/-30 degrees (approx), beyond that there is a distinct increase in friction, so I conclude it does what it says on the tin, i.e. it has progressive tightening.
Then again, the recently acquired Redsnapper tripod / ballhead assembly from Huw is a pristine example.

Steve, I must admit that I never gave the progressive increase in friction feature a thought. I was just careful when releasing the friction knob that the camera and lens didn't swing freely.
It's a very nice quality bit of kit I had no complaints at all with mine (now yours) very impressed with the quality especially given the price.
I just happened to have recently scaled down my tripods to a Velbon Sherpa and a new SIRUI lightweight 'carry anywhere' unit.
