Lasiosphaeria ovinum Through Laowa 25mm x2.5 -x5 Ultra Macro

I have photographed this Ascomycete fungus on dead wood several times. This set shows, by far, the most detail. Each of these fruiting bodies is, at most, about 0.5mm diameter. The narrow DOF means that getting several sharp in one frame is very difficult to impossible. I decided to use f8, rather than f16, prioritising detail over DOF.

I took some images at each of x2.5, x4.0 and x5.0 settings of the lens. They are all represented here but the amount of cropping (mostly vertical) varies.

The detail here is the best I have obtained for this species.

Olympus EM-1 (manual mode), Laowa 25mm f2.8 2.5x-5x-ultra-macro at f8, triple TTL flash hand-held.

The stereo is crosseye.

Harold

It would be nice to see this focus-stacked.

Like many other subjects.

I won't be stacking in the foreseeable future, although I have suitable lenses. It really needs an automated or semi-automated setup, which I do not have.
