Those are wonderful. The eye on the bug is exquisite. And the proboscis too.

I have no idea how you get the depth of focus you do with the high magnification. I applaud all of the macro specialists for their skills and patience.

I don't think so. It's antennae have a different segmentation and the proboscis looks designed for sucking sap. I think I can just make out two cornicles on the tail end. Probably an aphid.

Nice job on the assassin.

Definitely only a single cornicle as I have a better photo of the back end.... Too hairy?

Cornicles only come in pairs, no singles. I think I have seen some which were not quite symmetrical.

I watched it excrete a single drop from the centre... You can just see the start of the next. Approx 1mm nose to tail.

Large Red Damselflies Pyrrhosoma nymphula Mating

I usually see the females in out garden. There is rarely another individual present at the same time. I did not see these two except when they were in copula.

The female is the form fulvipes.

Olympus EM-1 (aperture priority), Olympus 4/3 x2 TC, Olympus 4/3 50mm f2 macro, f11, hand-held.

The stereos are crosseye.

Here is a female scorpion fly I managed to shoot the other day. This one landed in a nice position when scarpering a little far away but still nice

Yes, nice.

My colony don't seem to be around this year.

Another absentee is the Rose Chafer. We used to have several.
