Re: Panny 12-32mm, bargain at Bristol Cameras.

I got a second hand immaculate one back in 2017 for 120, so that's a great price. Mine is the all black plastic one. It's pretty sharp at 12mm, less so at 32mm, but I bought it mainly to turn my old E-M5 into a compact for taking photos while paragliding. I mainly shoot aerials at 12mm.

I got the JJC automatic lens cap to make it quick to use in the air. This is a little bulky, but the standard cap got lost in no time, being tiny. If you get one of these, be very careful fitting it, as its a push fit on the front of the lens, and was too tight on mine, so I spent some time filing out the inside. Some people have taken the (stuck on) front half of the lens barrel off trying to remove it!

MPB seem to have plenty if these "two" ever run out

They still have the last two .
Yes, mine also arrived today in a 'sealed' white box, bravo Bristol Cameras.

I would take exception to the 'cheap nasty plasticky feel'
It looks very nice on the front of me Pen-F, difficult to tell if it's metal or plastic.

The mount is plastic, zooming is very positive and precise, OK so it's not up to the 17mm f1.8 but it's 200 cheaper.
First shots look promising, on the whole I'm very satisfied.

It doesn't look 'the business' as 17mm does on camera, but it offers me far greater scope.
The 17mm may have to go, but I may just be keeping it for it's looks.

One happy bunny.

Re: Panny 12-32mm, bargain at Bristol Cameras.

It looks nice, certainly, but the zoom action on mine doesn't feel so nice. Still, initial results look promising and it was certainly a bargain so thanks again .

The lens cap is not a push fit though, it engages with the filter threads and actually feels more secure than many of my Oly ones.

It was the zoom action I disliked the most on mine, just didn't like this lens at all.

Glad you are all satisfied with it though

Re: Panny 12-32mm, bargain at Bristol Cameras.

Well, it's here - less than 24 hours from ordering and extremely well packed - excellent!

It's so cute....(that's the technical term for small and neat)

I've only taken a few shots around the house but I'm very impressed at the close focussing - anybody want to see a picture of my spice rack?

I'll post some test shots when I take it out for a walk this afternoon.

Janet

Re: Panny 12-32mm, bargain at Bristol Cameras.

I have been thinking about this lens but I think that keeping my 12-50 Oly might be a better bet as it is more versatile, is well made, and has a greater range. I can just about live with its size. Together with my Pen F and plastic fantastic, it makes for a compact travel outfit.

Apart from the size, a good decision.

I must admit to being less than happy with the overall look of the 12-32 on the Pen-F.
On reflection it looks 'naff', it just doesn't go, the 17 looking the 'business'.
But, but it does what I want it for.

Re: Panny 12-32mm, bargain at Bristol Cameras.

The 12-32 Is optically better than it should be for the price and the build is what you'd expect for the price. Its big down side of course is that it's dim. The f3.5 drops pretty quicky one you move away from 12mm and it's f5.1 by 25mm. That's a DOF equivalent of a 50mm FF lens at almost f11. It's a nice lens to have for casual use, but it's no substitute for some faster primes.

In retrospect this was in poor taste, a spur of the moment attempt at laddish humour which has no place on this forum and I would like to apologise for any offense it may have caused.
