Icy times in the village

Just a quick walk round the village this lunchtime. It felt even colder than yesterday and the village looks a picture with all the trees white. Shame I didn't have a blue sky as a background, but I did spot some interesting pictures.

The cobwebs in the church porch were quite striking:

Any idea what this might be?

Well - (topical) its the cricket nets on the playing field. It has been blasted by freezing north easterly fog for a week or so, and everything exposed has built up 15mm of rime ice on the leading edges, including the netting!

Here's the proof:

Brr. Indoors for me!

Pete

PS. E600 with gloves on: Click! Ooops, didn't mean to press that.

Re: Icy times in the village

I'm loving the cobwebs. Great angle.

Your images have captured the day superbly
Driving down to Newbury today along the M4 was like ridding through a winter wonderland blanketed in a white coat of frost.
In most areas around here it hasn't cleared all day.

Re: Icy times in the village

(BTW, I just replaced the cobwebby picture, the new version has more impact courtesy of CS3 shadows/highlights)

Here is a view of the "High Street" in the village. As you see its all frost and ice, but no snow at present...

Many thanks :-)

We did have snow, about 2 inches of it, but it got washed away last week. The village is one of the higher points in Hampshire and has suffered with continuous freezing fog with a NE breeze for days on end, hence the ice build up.

I keep failing to grab a particular picture: The trees are all frosted white, and in places the landscape looks almost infra-red..
