Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

Worth a dip in to this partial review:
https://www.imaging-resource.com/PRO....HTM#shooting1

It’s clear the author isn’t out to promote m4/3 - although many of his comments are fair enough, his bare comparison of the 1X - 300 Pro combination with a Pro DSLR with 600mm f4 is only half the story, and thereby entirely misses the point.

The Canon ‘equivalent’ will indeed give better bokeh and fall-off of focus, but it costs over £15,000 in the U.K., weighs 5.2kg and requires additionally a top-range monopod or tripod plus specialist head/gimbal at additional cost and weight.

Better Bokeh or merely more Bokeh? At 600mm equivalent, I expect it to be very rare indeed that you would need more OOF area than you’d get from the Olympus glass.

Depends what you're imaging, of course - for a lot of wildlife you may need to stop it down to get enough depth of field, and so increase the ISO, thus defeating one of FF's potential advantages.

Anyway, bokeh is very much a subjective thing, whereas there's not much subjectivity about fifteen thousand quid and a slipped disk

More info here:
http://www.andyrouse.co.uk/index.php...l8EuDPvBHuvM8Q

For any that aren't aware, Andy Rouse runs photo safaris, workshops and expeditions. Went to Svalbard with him, superb even though he was a Canon ambassador at the time he didn't care what kit we had!

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

Yes a couple of excellent shots Rob. I tried chasing one round the garden a few days ago but just couldn't get close. Not sure a 1X would have helped though it was me that was too slow

Thanks ,yes they can make it hard I did miss lots but the camera does very well even when you think you might be asking too much.
