Rabbit from Hell.

Door 'guardian' figure in Newcastle. One not to meet on a dark night.

Re: Rabbit from Hell.

Is this the same vampire rabbit that is on St.Nicholas' Cathredal? It's said that it's possibly a hare to explain why it's there. Before the Christian time the mad hares were a spring symbol and after Christianity arrived the hare was adopted as a representation of Easter. This is the background for the Easter Bunny. If you look around on churches around England you'll find the hare here and there.

Wrote an article about it in a Norwegian NUFC-magazine in november.

Re: Rabbit from Hell.

So that's where Nick Park got his idea for the Wer-rabbit from.

Why would you paint the nails first and the rabbit after? (drips on nails)

Yep, that's the one, on a building behind the Cathedral. As to adopting the hare as an Easter symbol, a whole shed load of 'Christian' festivals and symbolism has been nicked from pagan beliefs, not the least of which is Christmas!
