South Coast

Down on the South Coast over the weekend.

Taken from the cliffs between Southborne and Boscombe, towards the Isle of Wight this morning (Monday).

Re: South Coast

That looks nice, and makes a change from the view we usually see.

The layers of cloud and mist make the scene look slightly mysterious.

I also like the way the points of interest (man and dog; beacon and groyne, Needles) gradually draw the eye into the picture.

Re: South Coast

Thanks for the comments guys.

I took a few in landscape mode, but perhaps for the reasons Ellie points out the vertical format helps lead the eye up to the Isle.

I have since done a version with a bit more saturation/vibrancy (beach didn't seem quite the right colour as I remembered it).

Also when I opened it up to check sharpeneing, I nearly had a heart attack - lots of black dust spots how did they get there?? - except they weren't - not only were there a few fishing boats in the mist, but also a lot of buoys - I spotted them out I'm afraid - I thinking of printing this up and I don't want any complaints! But impressed with the resolution to pick them out at that distance (E3).

Re: South Coast

now why would you want to take out the boats fishing off Christchurch Ledge for black bream - a few friends were in that picture!

Re: South Coast

Photo_owl - the boats I left, it was the buoys that had to go!

If I had known you knew those guys I might have been after some their fish - only ever caught Mackerel myself.

We had lunch on a restaurant facing the sea, and I did have local crab - yumm!
