Superb shots Dave. It's bird which I have never seen, although we get the odd individual visiting my area from time to time.

Amazing shots, as others have said - particularly the last two showing the birds reacting and changing direction - they really show how their bodies are built and work in a way that I've not seen other people illustrate.

As I'm new here, apologies if it's impolite or not the done thing, but can I ask what equipment you used?

I'm assuming it's an OM-D E-M1 with one of the longer lenses, and if so, did you use a tripod, or is the IS good enough for hand-held?

Were you in a hide or just patiently watching at places where the birds were known to hunt?
