Anticipation and Age

Well here I am lying in bed. Today I officially become an OAP. SWMBO is in the shower and I am waiting for my birthday treat. It has been sitting in a box for about a month, just about the right size for a 7-14. As I look back to 30 odd years ago I may have been looking forward to some other kind of birthday treat but that was probably due to excess energy and lack of cash. Not sure whether I'm better off or not but that lovely lens is not as ephemeral😉

They way I saw it, and it operates largely so, is that my state pension is my photography fund (together with books, CDs, etc.) my occupational pension paying household outgoings.

That's what sprung to mind when I read your first three sentences. Sod the lens, I'd settle for the "ephemeral" treat any day - if only I was able!

Happy birthday, Jim. Enjoy that lens - and anything else that might come your way!

I wasn't quite sure where that one was going, and somehow photography didn't come into my mind!

Anyhow, have a good one whatever it brings and enjoy your retirement.

Happy birthday and congrats on becoming an OAP.

I hope your gift is a lens and that something more ephemeral is an added bonus.

Have a great day.
