Lightrail in Southampton

Since I am currently at war with the Nikcanon users in my soc, I need to prove my E-M5 can take pictures as good as a DSLR. Negative comments very welcomed.

Re: Lightrail in Southampton

I like that last one (#4) the best even though the road detail is better defined in #1. Are you able to merge the 2 together? The contrast and colours in #2 seem a bit muted and although I like the white starburst I'm not keen on the red and blue starburst. As the wekest of the four I would put this up against the canikon users so they don't feel too downhearted... then show them #4.

Re: Lightrail in Southampton

All good but #4 edges it. the only comment that I would expect a judge to make is that the area on the top right of the image is very bright and drags the eye across

Re: Lightrail in Southampton

Funny I had similar comments when I switched from Canon 1 series however as I am still often winning in club comps & obtaining acceptances in International competitions the sniggers have gone.

Re: Lightrail in Southampton

Grrr, my reply just got lost!

I'm not sure on the buttons. But I like the layout of the EM-1 buttons and my husband has no problems. Perhaps giant hands would!

Having not seen images side by side I can't say if they are better or less noisy, but your shots look fine to me.

Re: Lightrail in Southampton

I can't see much to complain other than what has already been commented upon. If we had access to the EXIF data it migh help throw some light as to what took place?

I like your images, wouldn't mind some info on settings though if possible.

At the risk of being banished from here, I must confess to having purchased a Canon set up. At the moment most of the images that I have taken that I am happiest or proudest of have been taken with the E620.
Its a such a pity that people get so badge snobby or anal to be more precise rather than embrace the fact that we all have a common interest and get on with just taking good images.
So my only negative comments are directed at the politics in your "soc".
Enjoy your photography.

John.

Re: Lightrail in Southampton

There is a huge amount of detail you have not brought from your images. They all could be improved.
More PP needed IMO. You really need to lift the shadows and I suspect you shot these a bit late as just after sunset there would more detail in the sky.

No ban for that; I'm afraid you will just have to try harder!

Re: Lightrail in Southampton

Nice light trails but a wee bit too much going on in the pics for me. My eyes are all over the place. A much simpler composition would have been more effective IMHO.
