Likewise, great shots.

That would be a great opportunity to grab some fantastic shots.

This is a shot of one taken at the Duxford airshow. Sorry if its a bit off of the original post.

Re: Dambuster's 70th anniversary

You can 'fly' a Lancaster bomber at Pitstone Green Museum in Bucks.:

http://website.lineone.net/~norman.groom/

You really get an authentic feel for it. You can flick the mag switches on and 'start' each engine in turn, and when you advance the throttles the sound builds up impressively (they had to turn the volume down because it frightened kids!).

It's well worth a visit on the few occasions in the years when it's open.

Looking at the Dambuster 70th anniversary website it looks like all systems go, for the fly past.

It's still showing "A decision on whether this is going ahead will be taken shortly" for the fly over the reservoir: Dambuster 70th aniversary

Re: Dambuster's 70th anniversary

I have it on good authority that it is all systems go for this, over the reservoir at 1pm then over Chatsworth at 1:15pm.

All subject to servicability of aircraft and weather.

I am planning to be there

Cheers
Mark

Re: Dambuster's 70th anniversary

I've just looked at the BBMF's website (perhaps I should have gone there first) and it looks more promising.

Could get very busy.

Re: Dambuster's 70th anniversary

The BBMF website states that the Lancaster will make 3 passes and the Tornado GR4 will make 2 passes.
For the Lancaster being a propellor aircraft the shutter speed needs to be around 1/125 to get blurred props. You don't want the Lancaster looking like its stood still hanging in the sky.
Tornado it depends if they fly through with the Lancaster at almost stall speed or do a fast pass. For a fast pass a shutter speed of around 1/800 and good panning

Re: Dambuster's 70th anniversary

Good evening all,

Just thought I would let you know my plans for my visit.

I am looking at getting up to the dams early hopefully before 7 if only to get parked. If this goes to plan then it will be some breakfast cooked behind the car ( black Astra ending in NZZ). If the road up to the dam is open from the A57 I hope to park in the last parking on the dam side before the visitor centre at Fairholmes.
So if any one is about in that area early and you notice my car, please come and say hello. You may even get a cup of coffee.

So all the best to all going and lets hope the weather is kind if only for the fly past.

Ian

Just a few from the day.

The evening engine run

One of the many re-enactors
Cracking results. Please, was this a special photoshoot event, or just a taxi run? I'd be interested in that but the website does not show any photoshoots for 2013.
