A week-end from hell

Saturday.
Went to a wedding as a guest took camera and FL50r hired from 'Olympus Hire'. I was glad that I did take out the hire because the 600r flashgun I had ordered from e-bay hadn't arrived. So all was happy in my wee world.
Stopped in the local village to get some diesel when postie stopped and handed me a parcel containing one 600r flashgun. Great, I'm a guest so no pressure and I can try out the new flashgun.
Whilst talking to the postie I managed to slop some diesel fuel over my
kilt hose so it was back to the house to find clean socks.
Get to the wedding everything going really well flash gun doing a stirling job mounted on the OM-D when somebody picked up a four/five year old swung the child round hit my camera/flashgun, smashed the flashgun of the camera, game over. Flashgun now sits on my desk in 11 pieces.
Get to the reception and before I've even had a sip of my 'Bucks Fizz' I have a severe vertigo attack which results in me being quite 'ill' and we have to go home.
Felt a bit better Saturday evening, managed to post on the forum get up to get a cuppa and bang, another vertigo attack.
Sunday: Another beautiful day, and I'm feeling quite a lot better. Go outside
and promptly slip on some ice but luckily a large rock hidden in some reeds breaks my fall and my glasses.

Monday: Exactly one hour and four minutes being passed from pillar to post
by my insurance company whilst trying to make a claim for the flashgun.
Finally ask the seventh person I'm put through to, why I can increase my insurance cover or renew my insurance policies so easily but getting money from them is like trying to get my brother-in-law to buy a drink?
Now waiting of insurance company (Aviva) to get back to me about arranging repair/replacement of flashgun.
Bob Geldorf sang 'I don't like Mondays'
I don't like any other bl**dy day right now.

Re: A week-end from hell

Oh Jon, that's a sorry tale of woe, weekends don't come much worse than that. Let's hope things get better as the week progresses. If it's any consolation I'm feeling quite queasey at the moment, for no apparent reason, and a few minutes ago I had to rush to the bathroom to be sick.

Re: A week-end from hell

Not a happy weekend at all! Things could have been worse. The diesel could have spilt on your kilt or your best seal skin sporran & filled your ghillie brogues, the camera could have been damaged as well as the flash & you could have got glass in your eye! Thankfully those things didn't happen & hopefully the 'glad to take your money' insurance company pays up OK. Sorry to hear of your woes, but hopefully things go better from here.

I guess my weekend spent shovelling snow wasn't so bad.

Re: A week-end from hell

What a mess! Glad you came out alive. Saw a darn nice TV report featuring Skye this weekend and had thought of YOU in doing so. Maybe I am to blame?!

Derek, I fear that "swinging the child is classified as ENTERTAINMENT"
not Child Abuse

Re: A week-end from hell

Sorry to hear all this Jon. One of those weekends that needs to be forgotten.

You have all my sympathy with the Vertigo. I suffer from this from time to time (due to sinus problems) and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Hopefully things will get better from now on.

I like children but I couldn't eat more than one, even with batter.

Regards.
