When my daughter, now aged nine, was about three years old we spotted a new teddy bear for sale which was exactly the same as her old, but much loved, favourite. The only difference, of course, was that the new one had lovely soft, pristine fur instead of the battered, mangled, matted and smelly fur of her existing one.

We bought it and, that night whilst she was asleep, carefully swapped it with the original. A scream in the early hours demonstrated that this had been a mistake and we rushed to her room where she sobbed, "Somethings happened to Butterscotch, he's changed!" We quickly returned the original, of course, but still haven't been entirely forgiven even though we all laugh about it now.

It came up in the conversation again today and Freya explained quite eloquently how she felt about this well meant but ultimately mean trick:-

"How would you like it if you carefully put your Olympus away in it's bag but next time you came to use it found that someone had swapped it for a Canon?"

AAAARRRGH! Now I understand how she felt!

"A hundredth of a second here, a hundredth of a second there even if you put them end to end, they still only add up to one, two, perhaps three seconds, snatched from eternity." ~ Robert Doisneau

Re: Nightmare!

Ooooo, I feel all faint at the very thought. I mean, a Canon!

Re: Nightmare!

I cant believe what my daughter remembers from when she was young, the human brain is amazing.
Its when we get to our age that it obvious that you cant remember anything from even 10 mins ago but things from the distant past suddenly spring to mind.

Oh dear I was going to say something else
All the best
