Guess I'd better say Hi

I'm Alan from North West Wales, just aquired an E-520 and am making my way into the Big bad world of real photography.

Still amazed at how expesnive everything is, but I guess with everything in life you pay more, you get more, although I have managed to get some ebay bargains including a very nice Vivitar Series 1 28-90mm lens.

I've also joined up on Four Thirds User forum as well.

Here's one of my favourites: (expect to be seeing a lot of that car!)

Re: Guess I'd better say Hi

Dear Alan,

What a nice change to see a picture in a first post. Especially as it is such a nice moody shot, very nice indeed.

Welcome aboard and I do hope that you enjoy the forum.

Cheers

Chris

A welcome from me too!
We seem to be attracting a good few members from here in Wales recently (I won't say Welsh members as I for one am not!).

Re: Guess I'd better say Hi

Hi Alan and welcome.

A cracking first shot and I can see you have a eye for composition, the car is in the perfect place on the lower third with the road and hill lines all leading to the car, very dynamic!

You know this could be improved even more with a little editing, Ill post a example if you wish.

Re: Guess I'd better say Hi

Thanks everybody!

That was actually one of the underexposed shots I took, gave it a quick 'clarify' in PSP, not really expecting anything to be salvaged and that's what came out!

I'm no expert with PSP though so would love to see what can be done. I do like to tinker with the contrast options though, it's amazing how much detail is hiding away in the shadows, that was most certainly visible with the eye in the real world!

Hi Alan, a quick tinker in Elements 7 (quite a cheap program).

Welcome Alan and a great moody shot to start with (especially with Paul's "tinkering"). Going by the clouds though, you'll need to close that roof light pretty sharpish!.

ah yes now that is moody!

It was a great day for moody images that day, I had intended to go to Blaeanau Ffestiniog where the sun never shines but for some reason it was glorious summer up there!
