Nicandra physalodes the Shoo-Fly Plant

Every part of this plant is poisonous so just enjoy looking at it .

Olympus EM-1, (aperture priority), Olympus 4/3 50mm f2 macro, f8, hand-held.

The stereos are crosseye.

Harold

Sempervivum

I thought the buds of this plant made an almost abstract image. Then I decided to show the open flower too.

The stereos are crosseye. I have used a wider aperture (f8) than I usually do for stereo pairs, except for the last which was f11.

Olympus EM-1, (aperture priority), Olympus 4/3 50mm f2 macro, f8 or f11, hand-held.

Harold

Grass with Stamens

I like the shape of this, which reminds me of some of the inflorescences of native orchids. It is similar to Timothy Grass but looks a but too tidy. It may be from seed in wild bird food.

Olympus EM-1, (aperture priority), Olympus 4/3 50mm f2 macro, f6.3, hand-held.

The stereo is crosseye.

Harold

Submatucana intertexta

This golf ball sized cactus gives good value in flowering.

The stereos are crosseye.

Olympus EM-1 (aperture priority), Olympus 4/3 x2 TC, Olympus 4/3 50mm f2 macro, 1/40 or 1/50 at f8, hand-held.

Harold

Two Heathland Orchids

These were at Decoy Heath Reserve on 28 May. I have various orchid books but I give up on species identification.

Olympus EM-1 (aperture priority), Olympus 4/3 x2 TC, Olympus 4/3 50mm f2 macro,1 1/125 at f 8 and/160 at f11, hand-held.

The stereos are crosseye.

This is a common issue.

I have found a way with cheap and readily available material which will at least give anyone the crosseye stereo experience, if not very practical.

Obtain two of the cardboard tubes from inside toilet rolls. (Best to wait until the rolls are empty ).

Use those like binoculars, except that the ends away from you at least touch each other, probably best if they are squeezed against each other slightly.

With that arrangement in place, look at a crosseye stereo pair on the screen. Adjust you viewing distance (probably longer than usual) such that your right eye is seeing only the left image and your left eye only the right one. If you see a small bit of the edge of the other image it probably doesn't matter.

This should give you instant stereo with none of the strain, headaches or fatigue.

Harold

Trying jpeg from the new camera, thought this was more of a flower than insect image.

Looks like you're getting to grips with it... you could always cover your bases and put the image in both threads!
