Putting in the effort

I haven't posted for a while, I just hadn't really been getting any decent shots. We've just got back from a break in the Lakes (nr Ambleside), where the weather was kind, and I determined to get out early one morning to do some photography, rather than just snapping away wherever I happened to be or taking record shots of flora.

On the Fri night the forecast was for morning mist clearing away, so I got up early and bombed up the hill to try and catch the dawn and was treated to some lovely mist over the valley floors and over Windermere. Normally I only last about 10 minutes at a location, but I was stuck there for an hour and a half as the scene unfolded.

You have to put the effort in, which is what I hadn't been doing.

Here's a couple of the shots, more in my Flickr stream

Re: Putting in the effort

See what you get when you put in a little hard graft?

If I attempted to climb to that viewpoint now I would need to start about a fortnight in advance - with a Sherpa! The moral is, do this as often as possible whilst you still can!

Re: Putting in the effort

Very nice work John and well worth the effort.
I have driven home from N/S and seen some stunning conditions this week but was unable to get anywhere to shoot.

Thanks for the comments all.

It's not just physical effort John, it's putting in time and care and imagination that gets results, like your fine Autumn Colours shot shows. It's the same principle in a studio as it is in a landscape.

Nice shots John, the first one is very good with the low cloud and the sun rays streaming through.
