ED Glass

Hi all,
I'm currently looking for some more lenses to add to my arsenal.
I note that older lenses such as the 14-54 dont have ED Glass.
How much difference does this make on image quality?
With the advent of ED glass, should I be steering clear of anything without it?

Thanks

Matt

Re: ED Glass

The 14-54mm f/2.8-3.5 lens might not have ED elements but it is a superb piece of kit and well worth going after, especially as they are appearing for reasonable money now that people are upgrading to the 12-60mm f/2.8-4.0 SWD. I traded the original 14-45mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens in for my copy and the difference in the build quality and feel of the controls, particularly the focus ring, was quite obvious.

If you find one for sale, steer firmly and resolutely towards it

Cheers,

JohnGG

whats the IQ like over the the old 14 - 45? I like the fastest of the 14 - 54 however the sigma glass is tempting me after having the 10 - 20
