Whats This

I had the day off today, got up early and walked the Cray riverway from Bexley to where the Cray joins the Darent and then on to Erith along the Thames.
On the way saw this,I could not get very close to it and these are quite cropped. It was by lot of read beds.I'll get my book out later but thought I'd give the membership a go first.

These were with the 50-200,EC14 and E3.Raw,developed in Silkypix, some levels adjustment, sharpened and resized in Photoshop

All in all a very nice day.

Ps no focus issues.

Re: Whats This

Had a look in my Collins bird guide and looks closest to a Stonechat; probably a female. Enjoyable pictures - thanks. I don't think I've ever seen one of these before.

Re: Whats This

I have no idea about birds... but nice sharp pictures and an interesting looking subject. Its from hanging out at the local RSPB reserve where we go for walks often that I am developing a serious longing for the Bigma! With such small subjects, 400mm just doesn't seem very long anymore

It was about a 9 mile walk today,I think the Bigma would have just about killed me with its weight. It was bad enough with the E3,12-60,50-200,EC14 and sandwiches.

Re: Whats This

Gorgeous little bird, and what a cracking location too. That's a heck of a tidal range if those reed beds are anything to go by.
