Re: A beacon in the sea of political iniquity

I can't bring to mind any leader, good or bad, who isn't a narcissist - it's a trait that goes with the job.

Re: A beacon in the sea of political iniquity

I'm fine with the narcissist bit. Perhaps a bit too rapey for my tastes. I'm not sure what lies in Julian's future either - I hope not extradition to the US. But I hear Australia would rather take ROFL (sorry, Rolf) back.

I do have to wonder how some of these people feel now the Russians have revealed themselves to be proper villains though. Who'd have thought that? A mafia state with thousands of nukes and an unhealthy territorial ambition....

Re: A beacon in the sea of political iniquity

It's hard to imagine that a guy as intelligent and charming as Assange would need to force himself upon any woman. The reverse is more plausible!
He was never charged with rape, the allegation was made to get him to Sweden for extradition to the US who seek to punish him for exposing its war crimes.
To our eternal shame, the Australian government in fawning subservience to the US government has remained mute with regard to Assange.

Re: A beacon in the sea of political iniquity

Honorary Australian on the Year?? Seriously? You’re welcome to the posh ****!

Saying that, he is making some agreeable noises on crime and punishment (in my opinion), I still thinks he’s a **** though!

Boris may yet prove to be another Beacon in the sea of political iniquity?
Enjoy the broadcast and then let's sit back and see how he does.

Won't play here??
Perhaps Dominic Cummings has censored it?
They should both be floating out to sea, waving of course.

Are you really surprised ? I've been warned that this is a family orientated forum so hardly surprising such unnecessary words and "Rich Language" are not allowed. Surely you can think of an alternative that describes him more appropriately without breaching the rules

Did you click the Link
Then scroll down to the banner and click Play?

Edit: Okay, I tried it, your'e right.
It invokes a "Sorry" page but then gives options which I clicked on and got it to work.
Being a web-based program one would expect it to. There is a downloadable iview app that may be the trick.
If you are still unable to play it, then I'll give the ABC a call on the morrow and ask if it will play in the UK.

Re: A beacon in the sea of political iniquity

One Thousand Pardons, My Friends!

I assumed that the ABC iview programs would have been viewable in the UK, as the ABC and the BBC are broadcast partners.

Benny Hill acting as an English teacher in a schoolmaster skit explained to his class,
"When you assume, ..... "
He wrote on the blackboard ...
"You make an ASS of U and ME"
I only wish they would run the whole series over again!

"Why can’t I watch iview when I’m overseas?"
ABC Quote:
Content on iview is geo-blocked and is only available in Australia.
This is due to rights restrictions – some overseas programs acquired by the ABC
and some programs produced in Australia and sold to international broadcasters
may only be broadcast by the ABC in Australia. It is not currently possible to geo-block
specific programs, so iview is only available in Australia.
(sadly)

Re: A beacon in the sea of political iniquity

I really can’t see them running the Benny Hill show on regular TV nowadays, too many prudes to complain about it. It was of its time and I don’t think you should hide it because of that, just accept things are different now, some better, some worse.

Re: A beacon in the sea of political iniquity

Thanks Beag', you did well to find the Youtube version. I've just played it, it's the same as the Four Corners program.
I'm presently at a motel 300kms from Wang at Tumut in the Australian alpine region. Brought the new laptop along, forgot the freakin' mouse. I hate the touchpad.
