It's an excellent film! The colour, motion smoothing and dubbed voices gives it an immediacy that the originals lack. One shot stuck in my mind was where troops were walking towards the camera and one of them had their hand shaking. Just a second or so shot, but it told a lot!

It's brilliantly done, but it didn't work for me.

The stark reality of WW1 was lost completely IMVHO.

Quite the opposite for me!

The jerky B&W of the originals always gave an unreal chaplineque quality to them.
