Camerabox Customer Service

Bought my E620 last Friday. Spent the last 2 days speaking to Camerabox. They still can't even tell me who the courier is never mind what the tracking number is.
Has anyone else had bad experiences with them?

Re: Camerabox Customer Service

Camerabox are known for cheap prices but they don't always source their gear from the UK channel.

Good and bad customer service eh?.... Definitely bad for me. Why oh why can't they just try to help a little?
As they say, It's never over till the F......L......Sings.
Never again with that lot mind you.
I'd rather do the red hot needle in the eye thing for sure.

I am now truly gobsmacked. After a week of chasing the delivery, Camerabox have decided to cancel the initial order. I don't believe it ever happened in the first place by the way. If the CEO. Craig Michael is tuned in, I would welcome an explanation.
What a total waste of time and money, I could have bought it cheaper on EBay

I suspect they're one of those outfits that take orders without having the stock, then when they've got the money try to source the stock. If the E-620 is no longer in production that may no longer be easy. Often there's a price to pay, if only in terms of inconvenience, for what seems to be a good deal.

As a newbie, I would have thought they already would have had, either a good or more likely, a bad standing on this forum.
Maybe not though. Never ever, again will I deal with Camerabox.
The staff, who I can guarantee tell bare faced lies in the Sales Dept., are Patrick, the Manager and his sales support team, Thomas Green, Andy Cowan, John and George( who wouldn't even give their surnames to me.) Total tossers IMHO

Re: Camerabox Customer Service

Just had a look on a couple of review sites and they certainly appear to be a company with somewhat less than good customer feedback
I tend to visit these review sites before chancing some of my cash.

In my personal experience I have found SRS in Watford and Kerso (Ian Kerr) to be outstanding from a dealing with / customer service point of view. I recently dealt with Clifton Cameras for my Panny 20mm lens, they were very good also.

I must admit I wasn't even aware of them. Much of my equipment has been purchased second hand from reputable dealers I have used for years or from this forum. I've had a new lens from Kerso, but most my new purchases have been from a local camera shop where I can visit face to face, handle the goods and walk out with them in a bag. It's a little more expensive but often not as much as you'd think.

No, I hadn't heard of these people either. I use Kerso, SRS, Fotosense, Mathers, Ffordes (who are superbly honest!) and Warehouse Express. Sometimes Amazon as they often do good prices.

Re: Camerabox Customer Service

regarding srs microsystems. they do also advertise on ebay sometimes. i have been to the watford shop and bought quite a few things from them and they are very professional and friendly. didnt buy my camera from them because i plumped for the cheaper e600 from currys. love it. wish i could afford to upgrade to a 14-54 mkII or 12-60 though

Re: Camerabox Customer Service

It's just one more thing to consider. Technically it should be ok, but you tend to notice more complaints with grey importers. Olympus UK would cease to exist if grey importers dominated and they can't do much of you have a complaint with a supplier like that.

Buyer beware.

It did occur to me when I read the e-mail whether "purchased" referred to the retailer purchasing it from Olympus within the EU..... or the end user purchasing it from the retailer. I suppose it's down to interpretation of the e-mail and something possibly people with legal qualifications would have to sort out if a problem developed over the extra year's warranty.

Re: Camerabox Customer Service

How about this for a bit of strangeness - the lady who did the graphics and some of the technical work on this site... founded Camerabox some years ago. I recommended a neighbour buy a camera from them and she delivered the camera to him in person as she was local. She later sold the company to concentrate on Web design and I feel things went down hill sharply after that.

Downhill? they are in free fall. After a whole week of chasing they decided to cancel my order today. So the camera that was supposed to have been collected by the courier last Friday has miraculously just disappeared. Now they say it will take 30 days to get my money back. The robbing ba**a*ds

I believe they have quite a reputation for this and the 30 days may stretch so keep on them - don't leave it until 30 days before asking for it again.

I always recommend a lot of googling before trying any new supplier to see what their reputation is

Regards
Andy

Re: Camerabox Customer Service

30 days to refund an unfulfilled order is just plain ridiculous and makes me suspect they may be using customer's money to help their cashflow. Quite worrying, really.
