Not a good day

I'm feeling distinctly grumpy at the moment, it was bad enough that my EM-1 has to be sent to Portugal to have its rear grip sorted out

but now I have wasted the best day of the week sat indoors waiting for a DHL courier to collect it (booked for 10-12 today) and no one turned up

It was made worse by the lack of response from customer support, when I rang them in the afternoon to ask if it was definitely going to be collected today they assured me that although they had been unable to contact DHL it would be collected by 17.00 today

Was it heck as like!

So now I have to arrange another collection day and go through the same waste of time

I may be retired but I have a busy life and have better things to do than hang around all day for a "no show"

Re: Not a good day

That is so frustrating. No doubt they will come up with the excuse that there was no-one in, when there was. Courier companies try that here. They soon shut up when I tell them there was no evidence on CCTV of a courier calling!

Re: Not a good day

Bad luck Brian and I share your frustration at courier companies on occasion.

When they work, they are superb, especially with the tracking systems where one can see exactly where they are on the day.

I hope that you get it away soon and better still get it back fully refreshed and ready to make more superb images for us to enjoy!

Feel your pain Brian, I remember waiting over a week of failed deliveries for a parcel. That was City Link for you and not the only time they were that bad.

Re: Not a good day

Why not continue to use it until the weather worsens then send it back for a full service and perhaps buy another new one when the prices have dropped. Then you can either sell on the fully serviced one and run the new one into the ground.

"La La La, I'm not listening" Derek

I have my EM-5 as my back-up camera so was not going to be without when the EM-1 goes away, so I'm OK with my current plan

(my Wife would have a few pointed comments to make about your idea and I need to keep her sweet for the 300 f4 purchase next year )

Re: Not a good day

Mine had to go back on Friday. was sent the paperwork by e-mail told not to close box etc. Waited to 11:30 when I had to to make a collection 20mins at the most. Left a note on the door for DHL explaining I was not far away and gave my mobile number.
You have guessed I had just arrived to make the pick up when my phone went, managed to miss the call trying to get phone out of my pocket with arms full. Did not recognise number but phoned back it was DHL man told him I would be with him in 10 minutes asked if he would wait? He did I got back gave him the parcel asked if I neded to sign anything was told no. In 5 minutes he was gone and so was my camera without proof of postage!!
Rang Chris today, closed yesterday bank holiday, got Chris he checked and glory be camera is with them. He has told me he will check what is happening with the camera and give me a ring tomorrow.
Will not make you feel any better but there is at least 1 good courier out there.

Enjoy your day out hope all goes well.

We used to use the above at work and they were so bad we dropped tham and christened them "Sh**y Link", they certainly lived up to that name!

Good luck for Fri collection.

Re: Not a good day

I've always had good service from DHL which I why I suspect (whisper it) I think the problem may have been with Olympus.

(Chris explained that the reason DHL hadn't picked up on Tuesday was that they had the wrong post code)

I finally took my E-M5 in for repair today now I have the E-M1 to keep me going, but I do share your frustration as the shop I bought it (E-M1) from had to wait on the couriers too (which also meant I was waiting longer). They call themselves Fastway, but sometimes they just aren't.

Re: Not a good day

In some ways you're quite lucky. Some of my neighbours addresses don't show up on the sat-nav route planners even when they live within 50 yards of my front door.

Being retired, I end up usually being asked to take items in... which, on odd occasions works both ways.
