Unusually Bejewelled Capitillium

The first image shows normal expansion of this spore-releasing stage of a slime mould. However, there are a few water-like droplets on its surface. The second image shows a neighbouring one fully covered with them. Several in the colony were like this, most being (apparently) devoid of them.

I don't know what is going on, These were in a closed box, except when being photographed. Some true fungi exude such droplets. Maybe this is what is happening.

EM-1, Olympus 4/3 x2 TC, Olympus 4/3 50mm f2 macro, Raynox MSN-202, f14, triple flash, hand-held with support. FOV ca 7mm wide.

The stereo is crosseye.

These structures have evolved to be blown around in any air movement, each pivoting around the anchor point in its calyculus (basal cup), and they did!

The body is willing but the mind is weak.
