Damsel's from yesterdays shoot

I booked a day off in the good weather to go and try and get some damselflies, as I've only seen one this year so far.

The spot I picked didnt let me down :

Re: Damsel's from yesterdays shoot

Glad you got a few Danny, I've only seen two species this year and the Blue tailed Damsel which I haven't seen or photographed before arrived after my EM-5's stupidly tiny and short-lived battery had run out of charge! Nice shots of fascinating creatures.

Regards

David

Re: Damsel's from yesterdays shoot

Thanks all! Sorry for posting the last one twice, dunno what went on there....

Musicman you get them near rivers, ponds, lakes, etc. Their larvae are aquatic much like dragonflies, then they hatch into these beauties

Re: Damsel's from yesterdays shoot

Danny.
Did you shoot in the morning when they were warming up?
I only ask as i went out. Late yesterday afternoon and the little buggers wouldnt sit still.
All over the place they were. Couldnt get closer than 12 feet...

Oh and by the way .. Did you get a Signed model release for them

Re: Damsel's from yesterdays shoot

Thanks for the advice Danny, I haven't seen any thus far, but will keep a look out.

They are incredibly detailed, and I'd love to be able to get similar shots as these.
