Boxing Day - Vintage & New every vehicles @ Wickham Square, Hampshire

Wickham Square (between Winchester and Fareham) and Boxing Day are synonymous with Vintage Steam Engines; Cars; Motorbikes and Modern Customs and Classics too !

Its best to arrive by 10 am - the displays are changing as most arrive for an hour - all is gone by 1pm !

We took our new found photography friends and they had a ball ... here are some of the vehicles

Having been to Portmeirion this summer I was surprised to see "The PRISONER's" wheels

I can just imagine Patrick McGoohan in here ...

What a beautiful Mustang

It was heaving with thousands of Peeps ! but still a lot of polite fun !

This Cobra sounded divine ...

a SMURF mobile ... part Robin Reliant and part Motorbike

I expect the rear of that is a little Fiat 126

Interesting collection of vehicles, always good to see They do something similar in my local town in September.
The Cobra looks stunning in that colour instead of the common blue

Quite liking old bikes myself, I'll go for the Vincent please.

I already have a Duke; a 900 GTS; 1977 vintage. I probably kill myself on an 851

Looks like a Series 'C' Comet. Half a Rapide (which wasn't much good). Pretty rubbish really!

My last 'bike was a Vincent Black Prince - which was a Series 'D' Shadow with the Black Knight fairings. That wasn't much good either (but they sell for inflated prices nowadays). Best 'bike I had by far was a 1929 Scott Flying Squirrel.

I still hanker after another Scott!

Hmmm. Just watched it through to the end (despite pretty much knowing it off by heart) and the first ad that came up afterwards was "UK: Over 40 Dating. Dating Site For Senior Singles..."

Wonder what that says about my musical tastes?

Ciao ... Oldie John

I had a Brough SS80 side car outfit for a few months before I sold it on (in the 60's). I didn't think much of it - just a 'bitsa' machine. The engine was a Matchless sidevalve 'V' twin and the gearbox Sturmey-Archer. The forks were also third party. The sidecar was interesting. It looked a bit like a Steib, but had a large diameter wrap-round tube, that doubled as an emergency petrol tank. You unscrewed the Brough badge in the front to fill, and drained from a tap at the bottom.

I always fancied a Long-Stroke Sunbeam, or a Rudge Ulster, but never had one.

Motorcycle design has lost it's way. The essence of a motor cycle was simplicity, and the ability of the reasonably mechanically competent to maintain the machine at the weekends - de-cokes, bearing replacement, brake lining riveting, carb. and ignition adjustment etc.
