Re: Politicians

A rich and powerful man consorting with a prostitute fueled by drugs, I really don't know what all the fuss is about. Its exactly what i expect from these people, I'd only be disgusted by this if he tried to put it on his expenses..........

Interesting that the majority in Westminster seats is created by the electoral system and not the actual number of votes for the Conservatives.

Con :- 2010 10,703,654 votes 302 seats - 2015 11,334,520 votes 330 seats a gain of 630,866 votes and 28 seats
Lab :- 2010 8,606,517 votes 256 seats - 2015 9,347, 826 votes 232 seats a gain 0f 892,370 votes and a loss of 24 seats

The seat numbers do not reflect the votes and it is made even more unrepresentative when you factor in the SNP seats and votes.

This is a result of our first past the post system and for me proves that we need a radical reform of said system. Of course that will never happen as any party in control is hardly going to destroy that position via by such a reform.

This system arguably supports the self serving politicians who play the system on a career basis.

Re: Politicians

As for getting those you deserve we only get the same people standing so the only choice is to put them in or let the ones you do not want in take over. Any new people standing tend to be left standing out in the cold. Then we have tribal votes, and the mainland parties do not have candidates over here. Then peace from doorstep pleading and promises to be broken the day after the election.

I can only sympathise with your position Ed.

However, even here on the mainland a lot of voting is tribal, or is down to who the voters father, grandfather and great grandfather would have voted for.

The fact that nearly all politicians are Lawyers (who are born liars) doesn't help.

We do truly get the politicians that we deserve.
