Talking FLASH! ah-ahh!

As some of you know, I like to "play" with the flash units out of these things.

I've just found out that if you ask nicely in ASDA, they will give you as many as you want.

Any guesses as to what I'm going to do with this lot

My eyes watered, just thinking about that

I certainly won't be rushing this out for the 5th. These things develop
VERY HIGH VOLTAGE
and should never be played without taking full account of what you are dealing with and taking appropriate safety precautions.

I love the 'ring flash'. Just the thing to put in the back of your car for tailgaters !

Re: FLASH! ah-ahh!

Actually Graham, if you don't discharge the capacitor you don't need to heat up the soldering iron, the voltage will solder the connection.

Re: FLASH! ah-ahh!

I used to buy secondhand low power manual flash guns for my nest box photos. I'd remove the flash tube and reflector and mount it in the top of the nest box behind frosted glass running wires from the flash tube to the body of the flash gun so I could mount it on the hot shoe of the camera.

Re: FLASH! ah-ahh!

Your making a time machine using the flux capacitors. I hope you have done your sums as you'll need enough to generate 1.21 gigawatts. Are you related to Dr Emmett Brown and have pets named Copernicus and Einstein?

Seeing that Octoflash gizmo you seem to share the same thinking.
