Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

Regardless of how good it is, they are going to have to sell it. So I would guess around AUD 3000 (about £1650).

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

As long as it accepts current m4/3 lenses without any loss of the functionality of whatever its `amazing` features are, bring it on. It will be `expensive` say Olympus. Well, yes- its Olympus.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

Itís surely going to be way more than the EM1-2 was at launch (£2000) so my guess is upwards of 3500-4000. If Canikon can get away with it then why shouldnít Oly.
Itíll be out of my reach no doubt, besides Iím happy with my mk2 for a year or five.
What are the never before seen features I wonder.

Oh, and EM-1x doesn’t give much scope for the name of the next model beyond EM-1x-1, which is a bit messy.

The EM1 Mk 2 is so good if the new model is significantly better it will be tempting but like many I will wait to see just how good it is. And, like many, I would wait until Oly make some tempting offers .

£2K tops and the sensor will need to be something special.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

They don't have to improve it by much over the mkII for me to be interested, a stop better iso ,faster startup, and more accurate AF tracking for birds in flight .
The mft is a great system and I have the top of the range Canon setup to compare it with .
Canons R is way behind and you can never get away from the weight of the large whites .

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

How about they make it with a detatchable module capable of sending message and talking to your friends. I believe it has been done already with an added camera! Who would have thought it?
Now wouldn't that be special and they could charge large sums of money for using the talking side into the future.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

Who would spend £2.5K - £3K on a new Olympus when the EM1.2 is so good (and half the cost)? How much better does it have to be, and what stellar features will it have, to command such a price?
It doesn't make sense to me

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

It depends on how much spare cash you have Dave, 1 stop better and better CAF for birds in flight would interest me even at £3k that's still half what my 1dxmkII cost .

I have the original Em1 from 2013 and decided to 'miss out' the EM1.2 because as primarily a stills/landscape/street photographer I didnt think the Mk2 offered enough over the Mk1 to justify the price. If the new one has a marked improvement in DR and iso performance I will happily ignore all those FF ££££ fantasies, and part with £2K + for an upgrade which should last me at least another 5 years; hopefully more

Perhaps Olympus are trying to enter that sacred space where aficionados will pay just for the name.
