A proper little stunner!

I finally got some decent shots of a male Bullfinch this week, and thought he was stunning enough to deserve his own thread

The part that interests me is the blue patch just behind his eye (You can zoom in more if you click through to Flickr...it looks like he has a bare patch of blue skin.. Do they have blue skin!? Or is it something less exciting? Answers on a postcard...

Wonderful images Alan. It seems that you are getting on really well with the 300mm f/4 and 1.4x converter. They are some of the best bird shots I have seen from that combination.

It is good to see that Sculthorpe is still probably the most reliable place to see Bullfinches in the area.
