Cornish Kestrel.

Hello all,

I photographed this Kestrel at Sennen Cove, Cornwall in July, it was hunting along the cliffs and boulders, so hiding myself away I got this image.

It was taken with the EM 1 and Zuiko 40-150 f2.8 Pro.

Re: Cornish Kestrel.

Thanks for the reply guys,

How does the image look at your end? ok in colour or too light/pale I only ask because I had a problem with the images looking to dark on other peoples computer screens and also when I sent the image files for print they came back dark, I have now got an action in PS that lightens them up for printing, the image colour looks fine on my wifes tablet.

Re: Cornish Kestrel.

Great shot with really nice detail. How close were you to the kestrel? It doesn't look like you've had to crop much.
BTW it looks slightly pale on my screen, but that does help to bring out the detail.

Re: Cornish Kestrel.

Hi all,

And thanks for the input, I wasn't too close to the Kestrel so I had to crop the image quite a bit, though the 40-150 f2.8 combined with the high quality sensor of the E M1 gives more chances to crop the original image.

It is a super lens if you can get close enough to the subject, keeping low to the ground, slow movements and moving a little further each time do help to close the distance, though as you know this lens would not be the birders choice but it can get a nice image when you do use it.

I wonder if the new Panasonic zoom that is due to be produced would make the ideal flexible birder lens, I think it is a 100-400mm of the top of my head, sure I read it somewhere.

Re: Cornish Kestrel.

A great shot and well deserved for all your field craft and patience.

It might be just a tad on the light side, but what I think it actually needs is just a little more contrast.
