AF confirm adapter

I'm thinking of getting a Nikon F-4/3rds AF confirm adapter and then fitting this to the MMF-3.

Any thoughts or potential problems?

Re: AF confirm adapter

Personally I prefer to use manual focus assist (magnification) than looking for the green light, so don't have any AF confirm adapters. Of course if you do get one then you can chose what to use.

With a wide angle and stopped down the DoF takes care of most minor focus issues or I simply use the good old focus scale set to a hyperfocal distance. You can get an APP to tell you what that is.

By the way, what lens are you going to use ?

Re: AF confirm adapter

Which camera would you use this on? I have an OM to 4/3's Dandelion adaptor (that worked on well on my E30) but I have not used it on my E-M5 as the magnification view works very well. I also didn't want to risk damaging my camera if there were any issues with compatibility. If you have difficulty seeing the magnified focus or just prefer a quick & definite visual or audio feedback, then I can understand you wanting that green light or confirmation 'beep'.

You can check here for other's opinions on the Dandelion chipped adapters on the M4/3's cameras before you spend your money on one.

Re: AF confirm adapter

As far as I know the AF confirm chips only work on FT cameras with PDAF. They do not work on CDAF MFT. I suspect you will be wanting to use this on the E-M1 as you have expressed an interest in this. This should see the combination of adapters as an FT lens but whether the camera mimicks the Oly FT DSLRs enough to give you the AF confirm I do not know. I would do as you have done and ask around to see if anyone else has used this combination. Good luck.

Re: AF confirm adapter

I would be wary of using two adaptors, at the very least it will be somewhat unweildly and iincreases the number of potentially weak spots. I take it there isn't a Nikon F to Micro Four Thirds adaptor available?

Hi,

Warning !
Some Dandelion/AF confirm chips will cause the EM-5 to stop working with 4/3 lenses, and I would think twice before doing what you have in mind.

I posted a long post on this subject, refer to this thread: http://e-group.uk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=27154 and more specifically to the post dated 28 May on page 2.

Re: AF confirm adapter

I use an OM to 4/3rds fitted to the MMF and it works fine.
But I would keep away from the extra electronics as it is not really needed.
