East Lancashire Railway, October 15th.

Hi Guys,

Here are three images from The East Lancashire Railway mid October a very grey cold and wet day.

The Flying Scotsman first, Lancs & Yorks second and a BR Standard Class 4 2-6-4T Loco.

These images were taken with the E M1 mk1 and Olympus Pro 12-40 f2.8 hand held.

Thomas - Lovely photos of 'real things', you are lucky to be in a situation where they come by you. Recorded history. I believe that is what photography is about

Great shots. Classic and classy railway shots. The second is my favourite.

Hi Guys,

Many thanks for the likes and comments, Very much appreciated!

The Flying Scotsman and The Lancs & Yorks images were taken at Burrs Country Park, Bury, it is easily accessed with ample parking near by. You can get some nice images from this spot and the trains go by at slow speed head on is an incline so you get the nice eruption from the chimney as the loco works harder which gives a nice effect.

It was my first time at that spot as The Scotsman was the big pull for me just thought I should see it while it was local.

Re: East Lancashire Railway, October 15th.

We stayed at the Caravan Club site there. A lovely spot and we walked into Bury. It was a bit windy though. I hadn't realised trains ran through the park.

Re: East Lancashire Railway, October 15th.

Hello Mrs T,

Yes a lovely place to park the caravan, the C/P runs parallel to the line, and by following a small track then walk under a rail bridge you will see another small track this leads to a field with a hillside and you get great views of the trains head on.

A new platform has been installed so when the steam locos stop and then begin to move off and it is a hill start! You get lots of nice smoke plumes.

I am looking forward to next year and will give this spot a good few visits and would use a longer lens than the 12-40 so would go for the 40-150 to isolate the trains more.

Hi Thomas - Yep the 40-150 would give some super close in shots of say the Loco, but the above ones also give a context which is equally important. Shoot both
