Re: MZ 300mm - 4/3 Rumours Update

We need some Oly & Panasonic UK try-out days for these, but whether I'm interested in either will I suspect depend on the capabilities of the E-M1 ii...

The price may well come down pretty quickly as Panasonic have announced their Leica DG 100-400 for a RRP of 1400.....

I think it might too, although how much remains to be seen.

So what do you lot think the 'right' price for it should be?

As dedicated oly forum regulars we should be given one each to keep.

I was hoping it would be around 1500 , I can see Amazon deals selling it for maybe 1800 in maybe a years time.

I was hoping for somewhere in the 1500-1600 too. Roughly 800 more than the Leica zoom (I have seen that as a preorder price of 1349) could well be the deciding factor for many especially if the optical qualities are close and zooms do have their advantages anyway.

I'd been hoping for the 1500 region too, and at that I think it would have been a no-brainer, I'd have queued outside the camera shop to buy one (not literally) at the current price I would leave it 12-18 months to see if it came down....

The rumoured 300 + 1.4TC was the reason I chose the EM-1 over the GF4 so I hope it comes out right in the end!

Ian will have a roaring trade for rentals in the short term I'm sure!
