Amber in B&W

I had a club studio shoot last night with my favourite model Amber

Whilst shooting a sequence with her I suddenly saw a resemblance to Jean Shrimpton from the '60s, what do you reckon?

Shot using the EM-5 mk2 + 12-40 pro with large octabox to the left as main light and strip soft box to right as fill light

I like it a lot. Good eye contact and excellent detail in the hair and fur. Maybe a little over on the forehead but a very nice shot and the monochrome suits it well.

Must admit I cannot see the resemblance, but a striking model in her own right.

thanks, yes it is a bit over - I re-processed my original treatment to try to match a '60s shot of Shrimpton, which was very heavy on contrast

This genre of photography is completely beyond me, Brian, so aside from her obvious good looks what else can I say.

It will be interesting to hear any comments that you get in "Club World", especially from a visiting judge...

Here are a few I would predict:

poor choice of lighting, not sufficient modelling of her face

over-exposed areas on forehead / cheek bones

looking straight at camera and insufficient tilt of the head

its a "pretty picture" and doesn't tell a story, but the model would probably quite like it

It would have been nicer against a "black" backdrop (insert any colour other than white )

etc

to which my comment would be

I didn't shoot it for you matey but as part of a sequence working up some ideas in the 2 x 5 minute sessions I had to work with the model (as part of a progression to a one : one dedicated shoot next year)

As I'm always telling new members to our club, don't put your images into a competition if you don't have a sense of humour and a thick skin!
