Quicktime

Hi all

I only very occasionally shoot video with my E-5, but there may be others here that use Quicktime for AVI files. Apple no longer supports/updates Quicktime and there have been warnings over its security.

Oddly, I don't have QT installed and, despite a pop-up in Lightroom asking me to install it when I import, the AVI video still plays in the Library module.

Re: Quicktime

I find VLC video player available for Mac / Windows will play pretty much all available video formats, plus it's quite easy in the preferences to make it the default video player. Plus it has lots of extra options to.

Avi files can be very very large compared to other formats.

It's also very good on Windows too.

Re: Quicktime

I used to use VLC but then when I updated to Windows 10 I downloaded the 'app' from the store, which turned out to be a cut-down version. I then did a bit of research and went with 5K Player based on the results of various tests I found online, but it regularly stops working

I think I'll go back to VLC.

I am curious to know what LR is using to play the video. I expected it not to work at all as it requested QuickTime.

Maybe use the desktop version of VLC in windows 10 then (I'm still staying with Win7).
