Poor Punctuation

Making a strong bid for the ugliest photos posted in the group for a very long time.

Found sheltering under a small nettle leaf.

These pictures are actually presented upside down.

Re: Poor Punctuation

Well gender is not relevant at that stage of life and in fact, of course, the mother deposited him/her amidst a pile of eggs and wandered off. Not what we would describe as responsible parenting.

Good photos, well I doubt it. But there is a fascination in seeing these things close to. Even if they rarely make nice images.

Re: Poor Punctuation

All that grotesqueness (hope that's a word and I've spelt it correctly ) serves a purpose. Note how the two spots on the side look like eyes, making it appear as the very spikey head of some much larger and fearsome creature!

Re: Poor Punctuation

To make matters worse, they have a white mark down their backs designed to look like a bird dropping (it does, too), to discourage anything from eating them.

Quite right, you can just see the white in the oof areas (a real pain to avoid flash burn in the photos). Though 'Spike' was unwilling to come out from under the leaf, probably a mixture of safety and avoiding the heat of the topside.

Thanks all

Nick

Some of us will disagree with that

I re-read Heather angel book a while ago and was amazed how things have moved on I would not have posted many of the picures in thaty book and you're a step up from anything I take in this type of picture

I think they are nice images

Andy

Re: Poor Punctuation

Really interesting beastie Nick and you have done a nice job with these. I think though that your shots of the crane fly? posted some time ago would win the ugly bug competition hands down.
