They seem very taken by it... a good review. Still can't avoid the usual issues of noise and price, but I guess that was to be expected!

It does sound a very good review, however, I doubt if I will be deserting the E3 for quite awhile yet.

Re: DPReview of E-30 is up...

Just read it and it was great to see them arrive at HIGHLY RECOMMENDED without using their previously qualifiying JUST as they did in the conclusion they gave for the E-3.

And what a long Pros listing they've given the E-30 too.

Oly should be very pleased with this review and be looking forward to the DP Review of the E-620 judging by comments made about it in this review.

Re: DPReview of E-30 is up...

Hi

I'm thinking about getting an E30 and read the DPReview last night. One thing disturbed me and that was their comments regarding processing raw file using Adobe Camera Raw 5.3. This is what they said:

"Athough the most recent version of ACR offers support for the E-30, it does not appear to be producing the sort of quality we would expect to see - specifically it's resolution is actually lower than JPEG (probably not something you'd see in a print, but it would be very unfair to the E-30 to use it for pixel-level comparisons). We contacted the ACR team at Adobe and they acknowledged the rather sub-optimal resolution results for the E-30 in ACR 5.3 (it wll be fixed later)."

My workflow is based around Lightroom 2.3, ie the same raw processing engine as ACR 5.3.

Do any E30 owners here use ACR 5.3/LR 2.3? I'm wondering just how much of a problem this is. I know Adobe has just put ACR 5.4 for testing up on Adobe Labs but the acompanying blurb doesn't mention E30 at all.

cheers.

Re: DPReview of E-30 is up...

I agree that the RAW through Adobe camera raw is not the best, so I use Olympus Studio 2.2 and get much better results. It is only minor but I find the Oly Studio keeps more detail.

I dont think its a problem with the e-30, its something to do with the new camera raw plugin for CS4

Re: DPReview of E-30 is up...

All my ORFS including the E-30's are converted to DNG on download (as is my usal workflow) and I cannot say that I have been disapointed with what I have been producing in LR2.3 from the E-30.

I have just downloaded the latest DNG converter from Adobe Labs and will be testing it as soon as i have shot some new pics.

Re: DPReview of E-30 is up...

Anne's pix taken with the E-30 are impressive and she feels more at home with it than the E-510.

A very good review of the camera.
