Never mind the looks. It is a big lump attached to a small foot, it makes it pretty un-pocketable and is just asking to get broken when out in the field.

Re: Olympus announces the new Pen E-P5

If I was going to need an EVF I'd take the OM-D out...if not I'd take the Pen.
I suppose the add on EVF is good to keep in the bag in case you need it when out with the Pen.
Theres not much difference between the two cameras in size.
Are there any other reasons why you would choose the Pen over the OM-D?

Re: Olympus announces the new Pen E-P5

Good looking camera but Oly should have added the inbuilt VF like Fuji have done with the XE-1.

It's in my article

http://fourthirds-user.com/2013/05/o...on_preview.php

..so - 1/8000th shutter speed, ISO 100 setting, better EVF - even if it's optional, wifi, for starters.

Crikey - I'd not had chance to read the spec - the new Pen is an amazing proposition !

The EP-9 eyecup for the VF-2 is great on my XZ-1.

Re: Olympus announces the new Pen E-P5

Ooooo.... It's got a built in flash too!

Is it of the "pull back for ceiling bounce" variety, as per E-PL1 & 2?

I doubt it.....

Re: Olympus announces the new Pen E-P5

The E-P3 the which the E-P5 replaces also had a built in pop-up flash - none of the Pens that have pop-up flash are designed for bounce mode.

Ah... but the PL1 and PL2 had it, by chance maybe, but still a useful bonus.

Re: Olympus announces the new Pen E-P5

This looks a nice camera and I am intersted to see how it handles as I think those control wheels and the way you can switch there function look nicer than the wheels on the OMD - maybe that will be adopted on the new D as well

I've not been tempted by the OM but this could be different
