People who type using "text speak" - yes I've seen it on forums as well as mobile phones! Is this a sign I will be 60 this year?

I guess that is better than Traffic Calming Humps ahead (or words to that effect) & they almost rip the bottom out of your car.
Normal ones become smoother when driven over them faster.

I think you could have phrased that one a little better Andy!

My vote goes to outfits such as the Gas Board who are very quick to take our money, but have great difficulty in returning overpayments - currently standing at 330!

I would also add my support regarding speed limits. Whoever thought it was a good idea to install 50 MPH average speed cameras on the Newcastle Western Bypass was either an incurable optimist or has never driven on the wretched road.

There are many others I could add, but life is too short.

Why are they incapable of describing anything without reference to London buses and football pitches?

Some of us don't live in London, and have no wish to. Are they referring to Routemaster buses, bendy buses or some other variety? Are there even any Routemasters still running with which to compare these things?

I note that some newscasters are also slipping into the nasty habit of pronouncing the word 'either' with an 'e' rather than an 'i' as it should be.

My in-car satnav, which, whenever I join the M25, tells me to "stay on this road for a long time". Mind you, it's never wrong!

I call mine Fiona as she is effortlessly classy, and never loses her temper when I disobey her. I'm sure she would make a wonderful wife.

Re: Nominations for Room 101

Using the word get instead of have, ie in the pub "can I get a beer". OK off you go down the road and get one then.

I really am a grumpy old man.

That is an interesting observation Latestarter. Many of these characters also seem to use an 'alternative' computer system (named after a fruit as it happens), and are equally evangelical about it.

Quite why they feel the need to convert total strangers on a train is beyond me.

I'll add to that - ANYONE who tries to convert you to their own chosen path or fancy instead of allowing you to go your own way.
