Ruby Wedding portrait image - Moved from E-M1 board

Today, my wife and I celebrate our Ruby wedding and a couple of days ago I took some photos of us to commemorate the event.

I used the EM1+45mm and triggered the camera using the Olympus app on my phone, it worked well but wanted to share the event and photo we like the most with you all.

We feel lucky in this day of short marriages, or partnerships to have been together as long as we have and we look forward to many more years to come.

A lovely portrait to commemorate the event, it will surely be a treasured memory in future years. Congratulations to you both.

Thanks Chevvy,

Sheila has a vintage clothing / jewellery shop so I never know what era she is in her favourite colour is red hence the hat, lipstick & nails and slight hint of vintage in the style - she insisted I wear the hat (at least she let me take the bag off my face)!

Ian, Many congratulations and yes you are right, not many stay the course these days! Nice happy photo too!

We celebrated our Golden Wedding last October and thought very much the same but looking around our large gathering of friends, I was struck by just how many of our friends had also shared their 50 years with us over the last few years and another couple to go later this year and I only hope that we could be an inspiration to some of the younger couples who witnessed our event!

Thanks Dave,

I think it is probably a generational thing as the younger generation seem to have a very blase approach to relationships in comparison to us older folks - influence of our parents perhaps.

Congrats David,

Re: Ruby Wedding portrait image

Hi Chevvy,

Sheila has all sorts of dresses, coats, hats, gloves, shoes and jewellery dating from the 1920's up to the 1970's.

She also does vintage hair styles & makeups as well as running a style school every month or so on a Sunday where she and a friend do hairstyling, makeup, deportment and all finished off with an English tea (sandwiches, cakes and tea served in real china cups).

All good stuff and she will open the shop afterwards for interested parties so if you are interested and planning a visit, let me know and we can sort something out.

Re: Ruby Wedding portrait image

All the best from here in Derbyshire.

Myself I have just celebrated 33 years with my loving wife Angela, so a bit behind.

Agree with your views on the younger peoples views now a days. It's surprising how many of my school year are still together, which is good to see.

Hope you had a great celebration.

Ian
