A Stroll Down The Hight Street

Taken at Burley in the New Forest the last time I was there.

I hope to be there again this year in the foaling season if my health allows as it is one of my favourite places.

E-1 & 40-150mm mk1 processed in CO6 Pro.

Lovely! It's a pity about the cars but having once lived on the edge of the Forest I know how crowded the roads are and to wait for a gap in the traffic would have meant losing this delightful couple.

Re: A Stroll Down The Hight Street

Thank you David, this was on the main high street in Burey and it amazed me how the New Forest ponies walked amongst the traffic with no sense of danger at all!

A few more from that same trip which was just after the foaling season.
Mind you, you do have to be careful as I was on one occasion charged by a Stallion that did not take kindly to me being near his mares and foals.

In the first picture that giant thatched cottage driving down the road takes all my attention!

40-150MkI is a great lens.

Re: A Stroll Down The Hight Street

Paul, I have friends with Livery Stables in the Forest and spent two years with my horses in 4 corners of the Forest ... learning where the Mares foal down and where the Stallions runs free with his "Hareem"

Perhaps you ahve seen this ...

Re: A Stroll Down The Hight Street

These made me smile Paul - bringing back memories of our visit to the New Forest in the 1980's.
Not at all serious about photography then, I snapped away with my little Kodak, and one of the recurring jokes in our family is of Mum's photo of a 3-legged pony. It did teach me to look where the 4 legs are when I see a horse now!
Enjoyed your photos.

Lovely pix - the New Forest is a magical location.

Looks like you had a fun weekend, Adam. Ian (Burley) has been keeping his country pile a closely guarded secret

Ann1e
