XZ-1 image sample

That's a 100% (1 screen pixel to 1 image pixel) crop taken with an Olympus XZ-1 today. And it's taken from a corner of the frame.

It's almost 1/14th of the frame area!

Here is the original frame:

Not bad for a compact camera!

Re: XZ-1 image sample

And XZ-1 macro and 3200 ISO:

Very crisp.

ISO 3200 - perfectly usable for Web and small prints.

Both very impressive all things considered.

Re: XZ-1 image sample

Were these RAW or JPEG, Ian? Apparently the RAW option is highly recommended on the XZ-1..... and why does my brain (along with many other people!) tell me it should be ZX-1?

I'm curious as to the actual size of the camera, as noticed on some forums people complaining that it wasn't 'pocketable.' Any chance of side by side shot with a Pen for comparison?

Re: XZ-1 image sample

The shots were all processed from RAW in Lightroom 3.4.1

The camera is not ultra tiny, but it is small and feels like nothing when it's on your shoulder.

I will take a shot next to a Pen tomorrow

May be, like me and many other people, long, long ago you had a Sinclair ZX81 computer.

Re: XZ-1 image sample

Well, many moons ago I did work in the Timex factory where they assembled the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, so, yes, that could be the link......

Re: XZ-1 image sample

Not a great picture and rather makes the XZ-1 larger than it really is. The XZ-1 body is much slimmer than a Pen and when the lens is retracted it's much slimmer than a Pen even with a pancake lens fitted.

Re: XZ-1 image sample

Looks like a good size to me, although not tiny like you say, Ian - the ability to take the VF-2 is a huge bonus in my book....
