Question Size does matter or does it?

I am 'Bemused, Bothered and Bewildered' tra - la - la!

Occasionly I notice photos being posted with well over the 512kb size limit and also much larger than 800 pixels on the long side. When I have tried to load one into my gallery only slightly over 512kb, it gets rejected.

Now, this is not a gripe, but I'd be interested to know how its done.

I think you get away with it if instead of uploading to the gallery you just link them to a off site gallery (Picasa or Fickr ). That's what I do, although I don't intentionally go over size just sometimes I forget to limit the size.

Not certain about file size, but the image has to be less than 800 high. You can upload something that is much wider than 800 as long as the height is within the limits:

Re: Size does matter or does it?

Thanks Paul and Pete. I am now 'Unbemused, unbothered and unbewildered' and am a happy bunny again. So does that mean photos don't need to be posted firstly into my gallery?

If you want to display a picture in say Picasa or Flicker, copy the URL from the site and then attach it to the forum post by clicking the "Insert Image" icon in the toolbar above the text box and paste it into there then your picture will show as an image in your post.

Thanks again, Paul. BTW, this thread wasn't directed at your recent photos as I've seen some from other members that are larger than 512kb. Your shots of the Don reminded me of many I've taken of the Dee between Aboyne and Ballater an area we used to visit often. Beautiful photogenic countryside we tried to move to once, but the job didn't materialise.

But occassionally, people trying to view these from work computers may have problems with certain sites getting blocked!

Not that I would ever be doing that of course....
