Re: New MC 20 announced.

Both look good Rob, at the mo I am happy with the 1.4Tc and the 300mm Pro

Even with the 300mm +1.4TC, the DoF is really small, am wondering whether the 150mm Pro and the TC1.4 might be better DoF

With the digital TC (X2), I can still do 850mm, but rarely if ever use that. But hey ho, might well take the plunge...………...

Didn't shoot this through the double glazing this time!
About 35-40ft away f8.0 and 50% crop in post.

Re: New MC 20 announced.

Just a question, slightly off topic.....

A 100% crop means no photo????????????

A 50% crop means you are using half of the original frame/photo.

A 10% crop means you are using 90% of the original photo.

Yes/no

Or is it the reverse. a 100% crop is the original frame size...????

Needs clarifying for me...

PS you 50% crop fits in either camp .

Nice pussy photo by the way..

100% crop is a fragment of the full size image where 1 pixel of the image is 1 pixel on your screen (no resizing). Usually used for pixel peeping or checking image quality at full resolution of the original image - because we usually don't have monitors big enough that will show the full image at 1:1 pixel resolution! The others, I think you are right.

Re: New MC 20 announced.

Here is a chance photo I was lucky enough to be pointing the camera at when trying out the 40-150 with the newly acquired MC20.
This is the resized full image
(F5.6, 300mm, 1/250 sec., ISO 2000).

And this is a 100% crop (but it will appear large here).

K8029416-scr by Ross, on Flickr

It is a little grainy because of the high ISO.

Re: New MC 20 announced.

Lovely bird photos Ross. Is that a Bowerbird of some sort? (Clothes peg might be the clue)

Otherwise, do you just leave the washing and you have a trained bird to peg it out?.....

Yeah, & likely a juvenile Satin Bowerbird as the mature male is black. Not our blue peg though. One could say we don't need to buy pegs because the bowerbirds collect them for us. So long as it is blue. Also, the males (& those learning) do thieve from each other too.

Here are a few of the locals in our garden yesterday basking in the sun. All shot with the 40-150 and MC-20.

But have Olympus declared whether (or not) their teleconverters will work with either of the planned PRO telephoto zooms shown on their 'roadmap'?

Quote:
Pro lenses, with their ball park ranges according to the new lens roadmap map, are as follows:

• Wide Zoom Lens (9-30mm)
• Standard Zoom Lens (10-40mm)
Telephoto Zoom Lens (48-210mm)
• Telephoto Zoom Lens (60-250mm)
I can't recall seeing this discussed anywhere. If the 150-400 is far to expensive, if one of the above was compatible with a converter it could be a much more affordable alternative.

Re: New MC 20 announced.

Oly says it is only compatible with 40-150 f2.8, 300mm F4 and new 150-400.
So you can assume it won't work with anything else or they would have said.
