Derbyshire/Staffordshire afternoon

Took some Canadian friends for a trip around the Derbyshire/Staffordshire border of the Southern Peak District recently. We were treated to a lovely Autumn day so I just had to take a few shots.

View from Ilam tea room garden.

Views back from Ilam Moor

Thorpe Cloud

Dovedale

And the famous stepping stones across the river Dove. Complete with controversial top surface repairs.

Lovely cottages and manors nestled among green hills by a stream. Nice place to entertain your visitors, Phill.

Re: Derbyshire/Staffordshire afternoon

Thanks for these lovely photos Phil. It's interesting to see these views as the Derbyshire/Staffordshire area is the stamping ground of some of my ancesters & this brings a little more armchair reality to their past for me.

The repair to the stepping stones might be controversial, but at least it saves them wearing further & maybe saves a law suit from someone slipping & blaming their clumsiness on someone else.

The pano shot works well too.

Re: Derbyshire/Staffordshire afternoon

I hate those concrete tops but I guess they are needed to stop the stones wearing away completely given the traffic.

Thanks everyone it certainly is a lovely area.
Didn't see your post initially Grissley but thanks to tim I did. Don't worry there was no need to delete them it's a pretty cool buggy. Must admit when I read your post at first I thought you meant a baby buggy!
Ross interesting to know you've got links back here, let me know if you need any help researching, my wife is a dab hand at that.

Re: Derbyshire/Staffordshire afternoon

You've captured some wonderful scenery, Phill, which brings back some happy memories of time spent in the White Peak. I'm afraid the paving of the stepping stones is typical of the modern policy to sanitise the outdoors and make it as risk free as possible. I wonder how long before they add railings on either side of the stones. To be fair, the stones were getting rather too well polished from the thousands of boots that have trodden them over the years.

Nice series Phill. I've just been to the White Peak once, thought it was great.
