Re: Cowslips (E-M5 plus 7-14)

One thing I know I'll still use my E5 for is the fully articulating screen so I can shot wild flowers in portrait, shame the E-M5 hasn't got one but I suppose that would have made it bigger.

Lots of Cowslips about around the forest at the moment.

I see you still like your saturated colours Shephen.

Hi Stephen,

Nice colours again. This combination seems to be working well for you.

But where's Dibnah?

Thank you Stephen, now I know what a cowslip is - I had always imagined it was something slimy that one trys to avoid stepping on.

There are times when one doesn't need a Jack Russell "lubricating" the foliage, even if your name isn't Canaletto

Re: Cowslips (E-M5 plus 7-14)

I don't think they are 'proper' cowslips, Stephen - the flowers are too big and open. Cowslips also don't have an orange centre. I think they're some kind of primula hybrid.

Another cowslip poem:

"In the cowslip pips I lie,
Hidden from the buzzing fly,
While green grass beneath me lies,
Pearled with dew like fishes' eyes,
Here I lie, a clock-o'-clay,
Waiting for the time o' day."

John Clare

I bow to your superior knowledge. There are a lot of Primula in the vicinity. We also have some red "Cowslips".

Yes I was thinking the same, probably a hybrid, there's lots around. In shape it is more like the Oxlip and has greenish sepals like that flower but this is almost unheard of in Scotland and is even paler yellow than the Cowslip

Hadn't heard that one, Jim ... wittier than Shakespeare's (dare I say so!).
